Singer, Songwriter Ray Montagne Concerts Schedules

rowena on Jan 29th 2009

Ray LaMontagne, the well known music star was born in New Hampshire. Ray Lamontagne did not have a good and settled childhood. Ray’s family was sadly, “just passing through.” Ray’s father was a very good musician from Nashville; and Ray Lamontagne was one of the six beautiful kids that his beloved mother raised. Ray really worked hard and then continued to follow his deep inspiration. By 1999, he really put together a sizzling ten-song demo tape of his superb songs. The very good recorded demo would become his well known entry ticket to the blazing musical world. The good demo eventually reached well known Jamie Ceretta at the famous Chrysalis Music Publishing.

Eventually, Caretta signed up the hardworking, young and extremely talented songwriter and eventually teamed him up with well known producer Ethan Johns in the recording studio. The association ultimately, resulted in the release of LaMontagne’s hugely successful debut album ”Trouble.” The album was incredibly handpicked by RCA Records to be fully released in 2004. Ray has an incredible voice that really sounds as a sandpapered and huskier edition of the famous Van Morrison or probably well known Tim Buckley. Ray’s writing style is highly emotional. Ray has earned many favorable reviews from the listeners and critics.

Updated John Legend Concerts

rowena on Jan 28th 2009

Is it ‘fate’ or ‘destiny’ or ‘a calling? The fact is that some people are born to sing and create music. If you ask any of the ‘legends’ in the music business, chances are you’ll get a variation on the idea that music is and always has been the artist’s most natural expression. John Legend’s debut studio album, 2004’s Get Lifted, became a multiplatinum-selling hit, thanks in part to collaborations with Kanye West and Snoop Dog. Two years later he released Once Again, which also went platinum, and now he’s just finished his third studio album, 2008’s Evolver. Evolver is a slight departure from Legend’s earlier work, with more of an upbeat feel. The first single from the new album, “Green Light”, features a collaboration with Andre 3000 of Outkast, and is already shooting up the charts.

The Derek Trucks Band In Concert

rowena on Jan 27th 2009

One of the most delightful and engrossing musicians of our times; the highly popular Derek Trucks Band has been enthralling audiences for over 10 years now. Their unique musical style which wonderfully assimilates elements of jazz, rock, and blues with undertones of Latin, Eastern Indian music has drawn them considerable critical acclaim.

Derek Trucks Band is named after the famed guitarist Derek Trucks who has been instrumental in bringing these motley lot talented musicians together and creating musical magic. The eccentric fusion music characterized by raw acoustics is a sound that now passionately defines the DTB. The band’s stated mission over the years has been to assemble a very talented group of musicians who amongst themselves share a passion for experimentation, improvisation and musical exploration.

Through the years they have tried to develop a very refined united musical vision. This has been made possible by performing only with this core group of musicians for an extensive period of time. The musical focus of the band is very much on the art form itself and bringing it to higher plateau. They are not bothered by the current trend of strong image-driven music. The Derek Trucks Band is committed to create progressive roots music and they are trying to reestablish substance over hype.

Rock Legend Tina Turner Back In Concert

rowena on Jan 26th 2009

She began singing as a teen and was born as Annie Mae Bullock at Brownsville, Tennessee. Who is she? No other than Tina Turner! The most dynamic female soul singer in the history of the music, Tina Turner oozed sexuality from every pore in a performing career that began the moment she stepped onstage as lead singer of the Ike & Tina Turner Revue in the late ’50s. Her gritty and growling performances beat down doors everywhere, looking back to the double-barreled attack of gospel fervor and sexual abandon that had originally formed soul in the early ’50s. Divorced from Ike in the mid-’70s, she recorded only occasionally later in the decade but resurfaced in the mid-’80s with a series of hit singles and movie appearances; her high-profile status was assured well into the ’90s.

Tina Turner, “The Queen of Rock & Roll”, has decided that she’s kept fans waiting long enough. Tina kicked off her first major tour since 2000 last October 2008. Fans can’t wait to see her perform such hits as ‘What’s Love Got To Do With It’ and ‘Proud Mary’, and shows are already selling out. Glimpse at Tina Turner live music videos!

Country Music Star Keith Urban Updated Concerts

rowena on Jan 23rd 2009

Keith Urban started singing at an early age. He grew up in Australia and began taking guitar lessons at the age of six. His natural musical talent and charisma soon led to his participation in children’s theatre, where he first began to sing. His father was delighted to have a musical talent in the family. Urban’s father was very interested in American culture and country music, and he passed that interest on to his son. Young Keith Urban grew up listening to Glen Campbell, Dolly Parton, and Don Williams. He was steeped in country music.

Born in New Zealand, Keith Urban learned to play guitar as a six-year-old in Australia, after a young woman asked to place an ad in his dad’s shop window offering guitar lessons. His parents made a deal with her that they would advertise in return for lessons for their young son. The boy had natural ability. By the time he was eight, Urban was winning talent shows. He also was involved in a youth acting company which required him to sing, dance, and memorize lines, all of which led to the ease on stage which would serve him well in his music career.

King Of Waltz Andre Rieu Concerts Schedules

rowena on Jan 21st 2009

Andre Rieu is the man who has started a revival in the waltz genre and has made classical music more approachable and accessible to all. Rieu is primarily a violinist but his work in the classical and waltz genres has made him an important name in the music field today, as he has single-handedly injected life into two forms of music that usually wore the stamp of ‘Members Only’.

Rieu was born into a musical family and began playing the violin when he was five. It was at this early age that he also developed a fascination for the orchestra. After studying under such great teachers as Andre Gertler, Jo Judda and Herman Krebbers, Rieu seemed set for a life of classical music- he even won the Premier Prix at his academy.

What would change his life was when he played the waltz ‘Gold and Silver’ at University- the way he felt while playing and the reaction it produced were so overwhelming that Rieu knew he had found his calling. In 1987 he formed the Johann Strauss Orchestra, which began with only twelve members and now has over forty. As they toured the world, an international revival of waltz music took place, earning Rieu the title of King of the Waltz.

From The Generation Of Singers - Hank III

rowena on Jan 16th 2009

Being born in a royal music family is not easy. It’s not a new idea for the son of a country-music legend to follow in his father’s footsteps. Hank III is a country singer and belongs to Country Music’s Royal Family, The Hank Williams Family. His full name is Shelton Hank Williams III and he was born on 12th December, 1972 in Nashville, Tennessee. He is the grandson of the legendary Hank Williams and the son of Hank Jr. He was already country music royalty before he sang a single note. But now we have a unique phenomenon, a third generation of oncoming legendary music in the person of Hank Williams III.

Alternative Rock Band Gin Blossoms Tours

rowena on Jan 14th 2009

Gin Blossoms are no one-hit wonders. They’re slow bloomers, and their story actually starts more than a decade before the release of NME, in their hometown of Tempe, Arizona.

Gin Blossoms was founded by members and longtime friends Bill Leen and Doug Hopkins whom first started playing in bands together a few years after graduating from Tempe’s McClintock High School. Doug taught Bill to play the bass, and they formed their first band, Moral Majority, in 1981. The name came after a friend joined The Moral Majority (Jerry Falwell’s conservative organization) under Doug’s name as a joke. The band’s t-shirts were the Moral Majority logo behind the international void symbol (y’know, like the no smoking signs). A big slice of American cheese’ was how the singer of this American country rock band once described their sound. Favored sons of MTV, they had earlier attracted a fierce local following after formation in Tempe, Arizona, USA, in 1987.

The Flaming Lips Concerts Schedules

rowena on Jan 9th 2009

From their beginnings as Oklahoma weirdos to their pop culture breakthrough in the mid-’90s to their status as one of the most respected groups of the 2000s, the Lips have ridden one of the more surreal and haphazard career trajectories in pop music. The Flaming Lips was formed in 1983 in Oklahoma City. Founder and guitarist Wayne Coyne allegedly stole some instruments from a local church hall and enlisted his brother Mark as vocalist and Michael Ivins to play bass. The group made their debut at a local transvestite club and began progressing through an endless list of drummers. Before recording their self-titled debut issued on green vinyl on their own Lovely Sorts of Death label, they recruited Richard English to play drums.

Controversial Living Legend Morrissey On Concert

rowena on Jan 7th 2009

Asexual, aloof, tortured and yearning to break free from the humdrum chains of daily life, Irish transplant Sean Patrick Morrissey, lyrical formulator for influential pre-Britpop monoliths The Smiths, has had a distinguished career as a solo artist.

Steven Patrick Morrissey was born on May 22,  1959. He is an English singer, writer and a lyricist from the Greater Manchester, England. After a small spell in the punk rock group, Morrissey ascended to eminence in the 1980s as a vocalist and lyricist of the alternative pop group The Smiths.

During  1987 the rock band broke up and Morrissey started his solo career  sustaining the jangle pop music of The Smiths. His albums have bagged a position in the Top 10 songs in the UK. Morrissey was acknowledged the most high-ranking performer in the year 2002, by NME. He has a dedicated admirer base, and is well-known for his mordant libretto. In his public emergence and song words, Morrissey has spoken and criticized against many people, including George Bush, the British Royal Family, and Margaret Thatcher. At times, he promotes animal rights and vegetarianism. He has also named one of his albums, Meat Is Murder, in order to support the cause.

Updated Disturbed Concerts Schedules

rowena on Jan 6th 2009

The thrashing sound of Disturbed began to build a following on Chicago’s south side. The heavy metal band formed as Disturbed in 1997.  Disturbed came together when guitarist Dan Donegan, drummer Mike Wengren, and bassist Fuzz joined up with singer David Draiman. The addition of Draiman to the band is what provided the cohesion needed for the band to strike out. Draiman grew up in a religious family. He rebelled from his parent’s strict rule and was eventually expelled from five boarding schools during his youth. Like many hard rockers, metal music became an outlet for pent up anger. Draiman was no exception.

Disturbed gradually gained popularity. Eventually, a demo tape led to a contract with Giant Records. The foursome released their debut album, titled The Sickness, in March of 2000. In order to promote the new album the band joined OzzFest in 2001. The decision was a good one. By the time the tour was over, the band had gained a national fan following and managed to break away to headline their own tour by the fall of 2001. During that time Disturbed also recorded a new version of wrestler Steve Austin’s theme song. Surprisingly, the single received significant radio play.
