Eric Clapton/Steve Winwood Joint Concerts

rowena on Feb 26th 2009

Eric Patrick Clapp was born on March 30, 1945, and was raised by his grandparents Rose and Jack Clapp when his mother couldn’t face bringing up an illegitimate child at the age of 16. He received a guitar for his fourteenth birthday and proceeded to copy the greatest blues players note for note.

In 1963 the Yardbirds, an aspiring R&B band who needed a replacement for their guitarist Tony Topham, sought Clapton out. The reputation of the Yardbirds was largely centered on Clapton, who had been nicknamed “Slowhand” by the crowd at Richmond’s Crawdaddy club. Clapton stayed for a year and a half until musical differences split the group.

Grammy Award Winner Indie Band - Modest Mouse Concerts

rowena on Feb 25th 2009

Created in Issaquah, Washington during the early 90s, Modest Mouse is an American indie rock band consists of singer/lyricist/guitarist Isaac Brock, drummer Jeremiah Green, and bassist Eric Judy.  For songwriter Isaac Brock, working to keep up with the ingenuity and creative musical landscapes Modest Mouse is known for is a tough task. Fighting periods of creative lapses, writer’s block and the obligatory walls that keep artists separated from their creative muses has been a story as old as time. With renewed vigor and a Grammy nominated album, he’s proven that he has what it takes to make the ever so sought after comeback. Including abrupt stops and playful lyrics, Modest Mouse teases its listeners, daring them to grow outside the general bounds of conventional music definition.

As indie-rock cornerstones for many years, 2004 has proved to be their breakthrough year. Modest success is the one way to describe their careers before Grammy nominated album Good News For People Who Love Bad News, with its hit single ‘Float On’. Maintaining their whimsical approach to controversial subjects, Brock paints ugly topics beautifully, reveling in its irony.

Durst was a tattoo artist at the time he met the members of Korn in Jacksonville and made connections with Fieldy and Head. Durst played a demo for them and they passed it on to producer Ross Robinson who was fiercely impressed by their music.

One Of The Greatest Voices In Music - Chris Cornell Concerts Schedules

rowena on Feb 19th 2009

With experience in some of the biggest bands on the planet’s alternative scene and a plethora of hits that span a number of years, Chris Cornell is probably one of the most important artists we have today on the alternative music scene. He is also one of the most hard-working, never fading into oblivion but constantly coming to the surface with more amazing songs.

Cornell set out to make a name for himself in the music industry and first made an impression with the band Soundgarden, one of the biggest and harder rocking outfits of the grunge era with a number of huge hits to their name, including ‘Black Hole Sun’. It was with Soundgarden that Cornell’s stellar vocal abilities came to the fore. Voted number 12 in MTV’s 22 Greatest Voices in Music, Cornell has an incredible range as well as amazing control over his voice, allowing him to effortlessly float into falsetto as well as belt out a note strongly, giving the impression that his baritone pitch is louder than it actually is. However Cornell would strain his vocals tremendously with Soundgarden and many of the band’s shows had to be cancelled to avoid any permanent damage to his vocal chords.

Insanely Creative Hard Rock Band KISS Concerts Schedules

rowena on Feb 17th 2009

One of the signature rock bands of the 1970s and 1980s that’s known for their insanely entertaining live shows is KISS. The group started out by finding drummer Peter Criss in an ad placed in Rolling Stone. Inspired by theatrical rock acts like Slade and the New York Dolls, the group adopted the practice of wearing makeup and adding pyrotechnics to their stage show. KISS became whole when they found lead guitarist Ace Frehley through an audition process. The groups demonic persona helped sell concert tickets, land them manager Bill Aucion, and a record contract by 1973.

The group’s first three album, Kiss, Hotter Than Hell, and Dressed to Kill, barely broke the Gold standard and did little to help its struggling music label. While the group struggled on vinyl, they ruled live. The label took the live show KISS fans paid good money for and made it into a live album that would start the group’s domination of the late 1970s.

Pat Travers Band Concerts Schedules

rowena on Feb 13th 2009

He’s known for his guitar skills and also introducing to the world some of the noted artists which were a member of his band at first. Patrick Henry “Pat” Travers (born April 12, 1954 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada) is a Canadian Rock guitarist, keyboardist and singer who began his recording career with Polydor Records in the mid 1970s. Pat Travers has been playing his own brand of hard rocking blues and classic rock for some 30+ years now and based on this performance, he and his current band will probably continue to do so for time to come!

Pat Thrall, Nicko McBrain, Tommy Aldridge, Peter “Mars” Cowling, Jerry Riggs, and Carmine Appice are some of the noted musicians that have been members of the Pat Travers Band through the years. Pat’s current band, at least for this gig, includes Kirk McKim playing some class lead guitar work, Rodney O’Quinn on bass and backup vocals, and a guy that I recall from some of Pat’s ‘80’s work, Sandy Gennaro on drums. This band was tight, boy were they tight. Downside tonight, the mix could’ve been better. A lot of Pat’s lead playing seemed down in the mix.

Sugarland, one of the hottest country acts of today, started in Atlanta in 2003 as a trio when Jennifer Nettles, Kristian Bush and Kristen Hall decided to form a band. Their first major label debut, 2004’s Twice the Speed of Life, shot up the album charts and has now reached double platinum status. To fans’ and the band’s dismay, Kristen Hall left the band in January 2006 to “stay home and write songs”, but Sugarland wasn’t slowed down, releasing their second album, Enjoy the Ride, in November of that year. Definitive Male Vocal Group - The Temptations

rowena on Feb 4th 2009

The Temptations were the definitive male vocal group of the 1960s, and their soulful sound still thrill audiences. Their pop and soul style, charged with funk, makes them one of the most original artists of their time. The temptations formed in 1961 in Detroit: the group was the product of a merge between the Primes and the Distants. Otis Williams, Elbridge Bryant, and Melvin Franklin of the Distants joined up with the Primes’ trio comprised of Eddie Kendricks, Paul Williams, and Kell Osborne. They were greeted with local success early in their career. A former female counterpart of the Primes, the Primettes, later formed the world famous Supremes with Diana Ross.

Over the years, the Temptations have released four Billboard Hot 100 number-one singles and 14 Billboard R&B number-one singles. Their material has earned them three Grammy Awards, while two more awards were conferred upon the songwriters and producers who crafted their 1972 hit “Papa Was a Rollin’ Stone”. The Temptations were the first Motown act to earn a Grammy Award.

Complete List Of The Pink Tour 2009

rowena on Feb 3rd 2009

She had sold around 12 million albums worldwide since the start of her career in 2001. Although she was initially viewed as yet another face in the late-’90s crowd of teen pop acts, Pink quickly showed signs of becoming one of the rare artists to transcend and outgrow the label.

Alecia Moore, born September 8, 1979, is a pop star who gained prominence in early January of 2000. Her home town is Doylestown, Pennsylvania.

Her first album, Can’t Take Me Home, was a modest success, due to the huge pop and rhythmic radio hit singles ‘There You Go’ (Hot 100 #7 in July of 2000) and ‘Most Girls’ (#4 in November 2000). The album’s third single, ‘You Make Me Sick’ was released towards the end of 2000, and also became a smaller pop hit in early 2001 (hit number 33 in February of 2001), thanks in part to its being featured in the movie Save The Last Dance.
