Pearl Jam Frontman Eddie Vedder Solo Concert Schedules

rowena on Apr 23rd 2009

Eddie Vedder, lead singer of the popular grunge super-group Pearl Jam, has been venturing out on his own lately, most recently contributing to the soundtrack of the critically acclaimed movie Into the Wild. True Pearl Jam fans already know that Eddie is an accomplished musician in his own right, and anyone that’s heard his solo work can imagine what an amazing live show he puts on.

Along with Kurt Cobain, Eddie Vedder reluctantly became a celebrity and an alt-rock spokesman when his band, Pearl Jam, hit the big time in the early ’90s. But things didn’t come easy for Vedder. With a tumultuous home life as a youngster, he turned to surfing and rock music as a teenager — most notably such classic rockers as the Who, Neil Young, and the Doors, as well as such punk bands as the Clash and Minor Threat.

Steven Tyler’s Aerosmith In Concert

rowena on Apr 21st 2009

Aerosmith was created in 1970 in New Hampshire by drummer-turned-vocalist Steven Tyler and guitarist Joe Perry. They were later joined by bassist Hamilton, guitarist Whitford, and drummer Kramer. And they soon relocated to Boston, where they became club favorites.

In 1973 they released their debut album on Columbia Records and found a hit single in “Dream On.” Aerosmith returned late the next year with Get Your Wings, which stayed on the charts for over 85 weeks despite little airplay.

It was in 1975 that Aerosmith would break through with the release of Toys in the Attic with the hit singles, “Sweet Emotion” and “Walk This Way” pushing the album to #11 and producing some of classic rock’s best known standards.

Rock Band Korn Concert Schedules & Appearances

rowena on Apr 16th 2009

American rock band Korn is composed of Jonathan Davis, the lead singer, Reginald Arvizu (a.k.a. Fieldy), bass, James Shaffer (a.k.a. Munky), guitar, Brian Welch, vocals and guitar, and David Silveria, drums. The band was created in the early 1990’s in Southern California.

This group of five spent a couple of years together becoming better acquainted and collaborating on music before they were signed by EastWest Records in 1994 and released their first album, Korn.

The first single off that album, ‘Blind’, was a hit on MTV and helped them gain the attention they needed to become co-headliners with bands such as 311, and artists such as Marilyn Manson and Danzig.

Jonathan Davis’ voice is very unique in that it can go from very high, on songs such as ‘Hey Daddy’ and ‘Freak on a Leash’ to a deep scratchy one as heard on ‘Falling Away From Me’. Korn’s second album, Life is Peachy, released in 1996, helped Korn grow even more, and this time on a global scale. The remake of War’s ‘Lowrider’ was an instant hit, as was ‘A.D.I.D.A.S.’, an acronym for something that perhaps shouldn’t be written here.

Alternative Rock Band Tool Concerts Schedules

rowena on Apr 8th 2009

Tool’s music can be described as metal, progressive rock, artsy, death, thrash, post-punk and a little bohemian. There are a lot of ways to describe their meaty rich music yet none of them really capture the chaotic structure and dark lyricism of Tool’s art. Seeing this band perform in a large venue and in front of a wall of speakers is the only way to go - and they are currently touring in support of their newest album, 10,000 Days. If you can’t physically feel it, then the Tool is not loud enough.

Most of us consider Tool to be alternative rock since we were hearing them on the radio at the time grunge was fading out of and angst was flowing into mainstream music culture. Even metalheads were listening and liking what they heard. Tool’s first studio release, Undertow, was wildly successful with metal fans of every kind. Most were drawn to Tool’s angry poetic lyrics and others to their undulating rhythms and waves of saturating guitars.

Lynyrd Skynyrd Concerts Schedules With Kid Rock

rowena on Apr 1st 2009

Ronnie Van Zant, Allan Collins, and Gary Rossington were high school friends, and they decided to create a band during the 60s. They started a band called My Backyard, and then they recruited bass player Leon Wilkeson and a keyboard player named Billy Powell. They changed their name to Lynyrd Skynyrd as a jibe to their high school coach (Leonard Skinner), who regularly hassled them because of their long hair. Having picked up drummer Bob Burns, they started playing all over the South. They were signed by MCA after Al Kooper caught their show at an Atlanta club, Funocchio’s, in 1972.

In 1973 they released their self-named debut album, after picking up former Strawberry Alarm Clock guitarist Ed King. This album produced ‘Freebird’, which received heavy radio play and garnered their first national exposure. The song was a tribute to the recently deceased Duane Allman, and has become one of the most popular and recognized songs of the era.
